ThreatSpike hires sales strategist behind Darktrace’s unicorn journey, Katie Newton

The proven sales leader behind Darktrace’s IPO success will fuel the next phase of ThreatSpike’s mission to simplify cybersecurity and IT

ThreatSpike has today announced that Katie Newton, former Global Head of Sales at Darktrace, is joining the company as an Investor & Advisor. Building on ThreatSpike’s recent momentum after raising $14m in Series A Funding, Katie will work closely with ThreatSpike’s go-to-market teams to accelerate the startup’s international expansion and market presence.

Katie brings a decade of leadership experience, including four years as Global Head of Sales, leading the commercial organisation from start-up to $5B+ publicly listed unicorn. During that time, she led the company through an IPO and expanded the customer base to over 100 countries. Her track record in scaling global sales engines, opening new markets, and building high-performance teams will directly shape ThreatSpike’s next stage of expansion.

It’s a huge win to have Katie with us,” says Adam Blake, ThreatSpike CEO. “Having taken a cyber start-up from practically zero revenue to one of the most recognised names in cybersecurity, she’s the perfect match for helping bring our ambitions to life. Our funding round, combined with our recent customer wins, have sent a signal that our messaging is resonating with businesses. They want a return to simplicity and cost transparency in the tech platforms they’re buying. Katie’s decision to join us validates this mission tremendously, and her journey at Darktrace is the blueprint for the kind of growth ThreatSpike is targeting.”

Katie’s appointment marks a turning point in ThreatSpike’s trajectory, following a period of sustained growth in the last year. Alongside its $14m Series A funding round in June, led by Expedition Growth Capital, ThreatSpike has doubled its staff to approximately 50 since last December. The company has also opened a brand new office in Mayfair London, in addition to appointing prominent tech figures to its board of directors, including Darktrace co-founder Emily Orton.

“What drew me to ThreatSpike is their fearlessness in shaking up the old cybersecurity playbook,” says Katie Newton. “They are relentless in their focus on delivering real value to customers, without the complexity and hidden costs that plague traditional cybersecurity and IT offerings,” says Katie Newton. “It’s hitting the reset switch on what cybersecurity and IT should look like: simple and outcome-focused. I’m looking forward to helping the team scale that vision globally.”

Until its funding round this year, ThreatSpike had been self-funded without any institutional capital. Founded in 2011 by computer scientists Adam and Kate Blake, ThreatSpike has built an integrated, all-in-one cybersecurity platform that combines endpoint, network, email, cloud detection, incident response (ThreatSpike Blue), and unlimited red-teaming (ThreatSpike Red). It offers all of this under one fixed-price, subscription model. Today, it serves over 200 customers with deployments across 90 countries, including industry leaders in hospitality, industrials, investment management, professional services, and more. The company is now moving quickly to expand engineering, security operations, and commercial teams to capitalise on broadening global uptake
